The ESH 5th Scientific Workshop "The Haematological Tumour Microenvironment and its Therapeutic Targeting" offers highest-level science on the nature of the normal and malignant haemopoietic stem cell niche. Chairs: Dominique Bonnet, Nitin Jain, Marina Konopleva, Daniela Krause, Simon Méndez-Ferrer, Kwee Yong

ESH Scientific Workshops focus on topics of high current interest in basic research in haematology.
They are 2,5 day meetings organized for an international audience of 150-200 biologists and clinicians.

Venue: The Francis Crick Institute,
1 Midland Rd, London NW1 1AT, UK

The ESH 5th Scientific Workshop "The Haematological Tumour Microenvironment and its Therapeutic Targeting" offers highest-level science on the nature of the normal and malignant haemopoietic stem cell niche.
It also aims to present strategies to target haematological cancers in their tumour microenvironment, thereby combining basic research efforts with possible clinical applications. It is designed to promote scientific interaction between participants from all over the world, involving junior and senior biologists and clinicians working in both the academic and industrial settings.

This workshop brings together a constantly growing and international community of researchers, physicians and physician scientists, as well as biologists and physicians in training and corporate representatives, whose present or future work is focused on the tumor microenvironment in the haematological malignancies. The meeting offers ample room for networking and discussions amongst peers and with internationally leading experts. It provides novel scientific insight into the microenvironment of haematopoietic stem cells, as well as of myeloid and lymphoid malignancies including immunological aspects and strategies to target interactions between tumour cells and their environment.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit points will be awarded to physicians for the time they will spend at the meeting improving their knowledge and skills. ESH is a provider of the European Hematology CME system.

Why the meeting will be valuable for participants?
– Cutting edge science with novel, unpublished data
– Ample room for scientific exchange and networking
– Novel topics
– Meet the expert sessions with influential, well known scientists

The meeting will be of interest to:
- Junior and senior biologists and clinicians (MD, PhD, MD-PhD)
- Residents and biologists still in-training
- Technologists
- Representatives from industry

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this CME activity, participants will manage to understand:
– The role of the niche in normal haematopoiesis, myeloid and lymphoid malignancies
– The impact of stress/inflammation on haematopoiesis
– Haematopoietic cell-intrinsic and -extrinsic effects on clonal haematopoiesis
– Solid tumours and their microenvironment
– Translation of niche-targeting therapies to the clinic

CONFERENCE MAIN SCIENTIFIC TOPICS
– Normal hematopoietic stem cell niche
– Stress and inflammation
– Clonal hematopoiesis
– The niche in myeloid malignancies
– The niche in lymphoid malignancies
