BSH Global Haematology Special Interest Group (SIG)

WORKSHOP: Haematology is Global; get involved

Friends House, 173 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ

Overview of the workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for participants with an interest and experience in global haematology to come together, to share ways to facilitate more mutual learning between haematology professionals from the UK and the Global South and to get more involved in LMIC collaborations. The workshop is open to everyone in the haematology community including doctors, trainees, nurses and scientists.

Workshop participants will hear about the activities of BSH’s Global Haematology Special Interest Group and there will be interactive sessions with BSH grant recipients with first-hand experience of LMIC partnerships. There will be plenty of opportunities for networking and getting involved in the SIG’s projects which are designed to meet the needs of haematology colleagues in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

Workshop topics will include:

  • The Health Volunteers Overseas and the Global Speakers schemes

  • Virtual multi-disciplinary meetings and education webinars

  • Partnerships for sharing clinical good practice and trainees’ research collaborations

  • Experiences of BSH LMIC grant recipients
