We are delighted to announce that Professor Andrew M. Evens, Director of the Lymphoma Program and Associate Director for Clinical Services at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, as well as Medical Director of the Oncology Service Line at RWJBarnabas Health, has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of our new, peer-reviewed Gold Open Access title, eJHaem.
Professor Evens trained in Chicago and previously held positions at Northwestern University and Tufts University. In addition to his medical career, Professor Evens has a strong research background having been PI of more than eighty prospective cancer clinical trials and leading several large lymphoma database analyses with his research outputs being published in a range of high impact journals. Professor Evens also recently served as Associate Editor for BJHaem giving him the ideal background to move into this new role.
eJHaem will accept direct submissions, and content will also be cascaded from the top quartile of British Journal of Haematology (BJHaem). It will be the British Society for Haematology’s second official journal and will be co-owned with Wiley and published by them.
Professor Evens’ has an exciting vision for the new journal and plans to ensure it is an open journal in the widest possible sense including openness to new concepts and methods to disseminate cutting edge research. The journal will cover a broad array of haematology topics and is keen to explore emerging interest areas and translational research fields. Professor Evens said, “This is an incredibly exciting time in haematology with an explosion of new scientific advances and clinical knowledge into epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, and novel treatments. We intend to leverage the Open Access format for a highly streamlined medical journal to rapidly disseminate these advances and new knowledge”.
Professor Cheng-Hock Toh, President of the British Society for Haematology, said ‘When eJHaem was announced earlier this year, it signaled joint commitment from BSH and Wiley to facilitating open research across haematology. I am therefore delighted to be able to share the news of Professor Evens’ appointment following Open Access week and look forward to watching this new journal develop”.
Maria Khan, Society Director for Health Sciences at Wiley, said “we have been pleased to work with Professor Evens over the last seven years as part of the BJHaem team and are thrilled that he will be leading this important new journal”.
eJHaem will launch its first full issue in 2020.
