BSH: Statement on Infected Blood Inquiry, Second Interim Report
Dr Josh Wright, President of the British Society for Haematology, said:
“The BSH, on behalf of its members and their patients, welcomes Sir Brian Langstaff’s latest report, which acknowledges the severe harms experienced by those infected, and those affected over several decades. It is good that a swift and broad compensation scheme is being recommended for those who have suffered, not only from the infected blood but also from the systemic failings and reluctance of authorities to recognise the injustice for a long time.
“We expect the full report of the Inquiry to detail all the lessons that we can learn from what has been described as the worst treatment disaster in the history of the NHS. This will be important reading for all healthcare professionals.”
