11 May 2018

Saturday 12 May is International Nurses Day, a worldwide celebration of the nursing profession held on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, known to be the founder of modern nursing.

#BSHNursingNow

We are dedicating the day to the haematology nurses who deliver outstanding patient care, and to highlight the vital contribution they make to the haematology community.

We encourage you to share your story on Twitter using #BSHNursingNow – tell us about your role as a haematology nurse and what makes the job special, or perhaps you know a colleague that has gone above and beyond in delivering excellent patient care that more people need to know about?

At our recent Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool, we collaborated with leaders in the field to deliver a specialist nursing session. This covered the latest innovations in nursing roles, how nurses can impact on practice, policy and research, and to improve nursing leadership in haematology.

At BSH we are also encouraging more nurses to join our vibrant community to help strengthen the voice of haematology, and so that we fully represent the rich diversity of the specialism.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is celebrating International Nurses Day by showcasing the dedication of nurses in delivering outstanding patient care.

RCN have created the #ThisNurse hashtag for you to share your story on social media – let someone know what a great job they do, a moment that reminded you why you became a nurse or reasons why you are proud to be a nurse. Remember to use the #BSHNursingNow hashtag too.
